Busy schedules, superstitions and film stars go hand- in- hand. So, it hardly comes as a surprise that Shilpa Shetty got engaged to boyfriend Raj Kundra in a hurry for two reasons – no auspicious time in the near future and their professional commitments.Interestingly, Shilpa went ahead with the ceremony without sister Shamita. The younger Shetty is currently locked up in the Bigg Boss house as a contestant. And Shilpa didn’t “have the heart to get her out from the Bigg Boss house as she’s doing so well” in it.”The date was decided a week ago and we all reached a consensus that we should go ahead because another good mahurat (auspicious time) was a long way off. Also, Raj’s parents and relatives were down from London for a week,” Shilpa writes on her blog. Shilpa feels Raj’s professional commitments and her own would have also kept them too busy to take time out for engagement.While Shilpa leaves for Hyderabad after a week, to shoot for her new film – Desire, Raj will be busy with the IPL workshop in Bangkok, which she’ll miss because of her shoot.”Hence, we thought it best to go ahead with this date under these circumstances,” she added.
The buzz is that Shilpa wore a ring worth Rs 3 crore sourced directly from London.She was seen flashing her expensive ring to media persons on Saturday.Looking stunning in a Manish Malhotra pink saree with a red border, the actress got engaged at her Juhu home in Mumbai. No one from the film industry was present at the engagement ceremony.The actress will reportedly get married in December.”I know everyone’s eager to know the wedding date. All I can say is YES, it’s been finalised. We will make an official announcement as soon as I know when Shamita’s coming out!” she blogs. Shilpa’s designer friend Tarun Tahiliani will design her wedding outfit.Saturday’s ceremony was a private affair. “The engagement was strictly a family affair, just his and my family and two of my friends – kept it simple,” writes the actress. She is happy that some media persons looked more excited than her parents. “It was very endearing,” she writes. “It’s been a time of happiness and sadness for me.
The happiness is obvious because Raj and I feel happy to take our relationship to the next level.But as most of you know, my sister Shamita is still in the Bigg Boss house and could not attend. She doesn’t even know,” Shilpa writes.The Life In A… Metro actress feels she had to be considerate towards Raj’s family. She accepts that Shamita will be shocked but also happy at the same time. “Missed her more than words can describe, but I’m sure she’ll understand! Can’t wait to show her my ring!!” she adds.Meanwhile, Shilpa is happy to see Shamita, “the pampered baby in our house”, sustaining herself in the Bigg Boss house.”She’s never cooked in her life and I saw her make rotis!!” says the actress, adding that she felt terrible watching her younger sister cry on TV. “But I’ve seen her grow on this show. This will definitely make her a stronger person. Speaking from experience, I know how difficult living in the BB house is!
