It’s true that the media distorts the truth. What the Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor said, was distorted by different sections of media. She said that they (Aish and Sonam) represented a different generation (and in fact, she could have been told that from the L’Oreal people herself and just restating that).
She also stated she could never be as big as Aish (the media forgot the nice parts that Sonam had stated about Aish). The media then added titles like ‘Sonam calls Aish a fading beauty’, all. Come on !!!
The media starts wars like this to sell their papers, pure and simple.
Sonam must learn the art of diplomacy & of making statements which the media will not distort & pounce on, which even Aish had to learn as she had a habit of putting her foot in her mouth when she started.
If you note, top stars say VERY LITTLE and always smile and say nice stuff. It’s because they’re protecting themselves- that’s all.
As for what Sonam REALLY stated- they represented different generations. It is not meant in a wrong context. She did not call Aish old or faded (the media did). Usually, a person in their 30’s vs 20’s is seen in the beauty industry as representing different generations– yet both are young.
Aish is a #1 icon star of India today at the top and prime- and she is seen representing the entire Bollywood now in fact. In her age, she is prime… ageism should not occur. She is young and talented and ready to START, not end.
YET! Any disagreements or criticism over Aish causes a big fight among her loyal fans. It’s strange because many big stars will get criticized (Madhuri at Aish age was called old all the time– and Aish was seen as the younger one to replace her. No ruckus then).
However, in Aish’s case, her loyal fans will have none of it… and will call the poster jealous, disloyal, etc.
