Workshop's most controversial song Bunty and Mallika Sherawat has got as many as 16,500 hits on youtube. Obviously it had to make its way to the band's album Khooni Murga slated to release on Saturday.
Workshop which is the brainchild of Sahil Makhija, is also loaded with heaps of wit and humour. Their lyrics go from ridiculous to disgusting. They write about everything from big breasted guys in the jungle inspired by a B-grade movie to masturbation in the song called I Came. And if you think that it could not get weirder than this, you should know that there's also a song on The Demonic Omlette which Sahil often makes for his friends.
"We have everything from boobies to butt cracks in our album. And everything from rap to bhangra. "Why do you write such wacky stuff? Well honestly we do it because no one else does. As for the subjects begin weird, I completely disagree because subjects like these are extremely normal and have been completely distorted by society and made into this horrible things which they are absolutely not. Also they make for hilarious content and lets face, it everyone loves a dirty joke now and then!," says Sahil, the lead singer.
The comedy band's music is ranges from rock, pop, jazz, fusion, metal and hip hop. But the strong point of the band obviously is the song writing which is sure to keep you in splits-- the title Khooni Murga itself suggests what to expect. The trio of Sahil (the Demonstealer) on vocals and guitars, Hamza Kazi (Humzoid) on drums and Riju Dasgupta (the Rijunator) on bass made a mark in Channel V Launchpad where they had reached the top five. They had been working on the album however, long before the show.
