When Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor began dating during the Kaminey shoot, Bollywood collectively – with maybe a few exceptions (cough... Harman... cough Vidya) – celebrated this cute pairing. But is Sasha’s holier-than-thou attitude to life driving a wedge between him and his fun-loving GF?

Keeping true to Bollywood customs, the fireworks started at a party. (Flashback: Kat’s party and the Khan war that erupted in it!) This time, Prinks was hosting a party at her new home in Versova, Mumbai, for her good friend, 300 star Gerard Butler. Apparently in the country to scout for locations, Gerard had also made it a point to drop in at Prinks’ What’s Your Rashee? Jaipur set. And Priyanka took the opportunity to host her long-postponed house warming party while Gerard was in town.

Prinks drinks and loves non-veg

A strict vegetarian and teetotaler, Shahid was unhappy about drinks being served at her party. He’s especially hassled about Prinks enjoying her wine. Of completely differing temperaments, fun-loving Priyanka recently admitted to a friend that Shahid may not be her type!

The Ex-Factor

It sure looks like Shahid is going through a bad phase as his ex Kareena recently spoke to the media accusing Sasha of not moving on. Recent reports had stated that Shahid had done better in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey than Saif had done in Omkara, also directed by Vishal. An upset Saif stated, “Do we have to resort to this silly game of one-upmanship?” And on reports stating that Bebo was trying to get Priyanka out of Shahid’s life, Kareena says, “Why am I being dragged into all this? I don’t like my name to come up in connection with other people’s lives. I’ve moved on and I wish Shahid would also do so. Nothing can separate Saif and me. Certainly not these silly attempts to drag me back to a past I’ve left behind.”

Close friends of Kareena and Saif added their bit by saying, “To portray her (Bebo) as the restless woman who jilted Shahid for Saif is so unfair. Only Kareena and Shahid know what really happened to tear them apart. The day Kareena opens her mouth, Shahid’s image of injured innocence will collapse in a heap. But Kareena is not one to wash her dirty linen in public.”

On being asked for his comments on these statements, Shahid chose to keep his own counsel. “Everyone knows who is interfering in whose life. I don’t want to resort to cheap tricks like giving interviews and discussing my personal life, past or present,” he snapped earlier.

Bringing Gerard to his knees

Gerard made a possessive Shahid see red when he (Gerard) kept going down on bended knees to propose to Priyanka. The party, that went on till 4am, was a huge hit, but the highlight of the party was Gerard dropping to his knees every half hour or so and proposing marriage to Priyanka.

Prinks cottoned on to the fact that it was all a joke and laughed off the proposals. But after the party things came to a head between her and Shahid. He was upset with her that she had only laughed off the proposals without objecting to it even once. (Duh! We dare you to show us a girl who’d object to Gerard Butler proposing to her). And the fact that Priyanka burnt up the dance floor with Gerard could not have gone down well either.

However, the spat also resulted in some good gossip fodder for the rest of Bollywood that gathered the next day at SRK’s home, Mannat for yet another party for Gerard. Priyanka was surprisingly absent from the Mannat party and not so surprisingly, also absent was Shahid. The question on everyone’s mind is whether Prinks will now have to give up partying to fit in with Shahid Kapoor’s quieter lifestyle.
